Kollector

The Kollector is a character from the Mortal Kombat video game series. Introduced in Mortal Kombat 11, he is a member of the six-armed Naknadan race. Cunning, greedy and selfish, the Kollector once served as a tribute collector for Shao Kahn, but would always take more on the side for himself. He hoards many valuable items and artifacts, including weapons that he uses in kombat.

History[]

Long ago, the Kollector served Shao Kahn by collecting tribute from Outworld's citizens. Though born into poverty, he rose through the ranks quickly and constantly abused his station by bleeding citizens dry in order to line his own pockets. Following Shao Kahn's death and the rise of Kotal Kahn, the Kollector found himself a wanted man. He went into hiding for years, but was eventually found and captured, being sentenced to death for his crimes against Outworld's people.

On the day of his execution, the Kollector was bound in a slave wheel and dragged into the Koliseum to be killed publicly. But before the execution could be carried out, a violent sandstorm occurred followed by a quake. In the confusion, Kollector took the keys to the slave wheel from one of the guards and freed himself, killing his jailers. Then a rip in time and space appeared, followed by the sudden appearance of Shao Kahn and several other warriors from the past. A battle broke out between the new arrivals and the Kollector joined Shao Kahn as he, Skarlet and Baraka fought against Kotal Kahn and the past incarnations of Raiden and his champions.

In the midst of battle, a portal appeared and the Kytinn D'Vorah appeared, urging Shao Kahn and his allies to follow. Kollector followed with them and they emerged within a Kytinn Hive. Having arrived from the past, Shao Kahn was unaware of the events that had transpired since the Outworld Tournament. The Kollector informed the former emperor of how he had died during the Battle of Earthrealm and how Mileena had succeeded him only to be overthrown by Kotal. The group were then met by Kronika, the Keeper of Time, who was responsible for the temporal merger. She was attempting to create a new, perfect timeline and promised the assembled villains everything they wanted in exchange for helping her bring her plan to fruition.

The Kollector continued to serve Shao Kahn as the former emperor made plans to reclaim his throne. He would fight against Kotal Kahn and Jade when they infiltrated the Tarkatan Kamp and later he would fight Kitana in the Koliseum when she attempted to free Kotal. Kollector was ultimately defeated, but was allowed to live and was imprisoned along with his master.

Abilities and Equipment[]

  • Superhuman Strength - Despite his wiry frame, the Kollector is far stronger than he appears. He can lift an adult human with ease with just two of his six arms.
  • Bag of Holding - Kollector carries a satchel on his back that he holds in place with one pair of arms. This enchanted backpack seems to contain some kind of pocket dimension, allowing its user to carry any number of items regardless of size or weight.
  • Demonic Mace - A lantern-like object attached to a chain that has a blue flame burning within it. The Kollector uses this as his primary weapon.
  • Shotels - A series of exotic blades that the Kollector uses to repeatedly stab his foes.
  • Damned Bola - An enchanted bola that the Kollector uses to trip up his opponents.
  • Mystic Beacon - A magical lantern that glows with an arcane flame. The aura from this lantern deflects projectile attacks.
