A Kodama is a tree-spirit from Japanese folklore seen as a guardian of the forest, a large tree that is surrounded by orbs of light a Kodama is a largely benevolent creature whose existence is forever linked with the tree it resides in, if either spirit or tree is killed it will inflict great misfortune.
When left to their own devices they usually tend to their forest, rarely interacting with humans save as will-o-wisps, supernatural voices or sometimes as small humanoids - they do not harm people so long as people are respectful of the forest and are revered due to their role within the forests.
