Knifehead was a kaiju which appeared in the 2013 monster movie Pacific Rim and its associated media.
Description[]
Knifehead was one of the interdimensional beasts of war sent by an unknown race through a portal beneath the Pacific Ocean known as The Breach in order to lay waste to the human race.
The largest Category III kaiju encountered at the time of its emergence from The Breach, Knifehead weighed in at 2,700 tons, stood a full 315 feet tall, and was possessed of a bony, armoured carapace. A six-limbed creature, it used its rear pair for locomotion, and the upper, larger forelimbs as weapons. It’s most distinguishing feature, however, was the enormous knife-like bone structure which projected from above its snout and gave the beast its name.
History[]
After emerging from The Breach on February 29th, 2020, Knifehead made directly for the city of Anchorage in Alaska. After evading Romeo Blue, the first Jaeger (a type of colossal robot piloted by humans as a direct response to the threat of the kaiju) which had been sent to intercept it, it was engaged by a second by the name of Gipsy Danger. The pilots of Gipsy were distracted by saving the crew of a fishing vessel which had been caught in the middle of the struggle, and this enabled Knifehead to tear off one of Gipsy’s arms and kill one of the two pilots, before the surviving pilot deployed his machine’s plasma cannon which put an end to the rampaging beast.
