The Kamacuras are a species of Kaiju which appear in Toho Company’s Godzilla franchise.
Description[]
The Kamacuras were a species of gigantic preying mantis, created when Solgell Island was exposed to a radioactive storm after an abortive weather experiment conducted by the United States went awry. They possessed all of the abilities of regular preying mantises, including flight, and were additionally capable of changing the pigmentation of their skin to effectively hide themselves from view.
In its various incarnations, the Kamacuras have been described as between 40 and 50 metres tall, 65 to 90 metres in length, and weighing somewhere between 2,800 and 20,000 tons.
History[]
After the first Kamacuras were created on Solgell Island, three Kamacuras attacked a United Nations expedition before unearthing Minilla’s egg and attempting to eat the hatchling. Godzilla soon intervened however, killing two of the creatures and setting the third to flight. The third Kamacuras was later killed by the spider Kaiju Kumonga.
A Kamacuras was subsequently used in two separate attempts by the alien Xiliens to overthrow Earth, although on both occasions was defeated, and in the second instance actually killed.
Later, a Kamacuras was copied by the Trilopods, and took part in the massive battle between Earth’s monsters and the invading aliens, which the monsters ultimately won.
