The Kab-omb is a subspecies of Bob-omb in the Super Mario video game series. It was first introduced in New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS.
The Kab-omb differs from a regular Bob-omb in a number of ways. Its body consists of an indigo-coloured top half and a fringed green bottom half. It has a noticeable pair of swollen lips and, unlike other Bob-ombs, does not have a clockwork key sticking out of its back.
Kab-ombs idly walk side-to-side, posing little threat to Mario unless he runs straight into one. Mario is able to defeat Kab-ombs by jumping on them without fear of them exploding. However, Kab-ombs only appear in volcanic areas, so their fuses can be lit by volcanic sparks or by Mario's fireballs if he has a Fire Flower. Once its fuse is lit, a Kab-omb will turn red and charge towards Mario before exploding into fireworks.
