The Iron Golem aka Metal Shifter was originally an artwork that was made by a man named Earl, but due to an unknown substance that came from outer space, it was brought to life.

Apparently it's a bacterial lifeform that can possess metal. In addition, it's highly toxic to organic materials, with a single touch being fatal. The bacteria affecting the vessel it inhabits is capable of reconstituting itself.
Like most bacterial substances, it is susceptible to alcohol.
