Iapetus was one of the Titans of Greek mythology, a group of primordial superbeings who came before the Olympian pantheon, and were ultimately overthrown by the new gods.

Overview[]

A brother to lord of the Titans Cronus, Iapetus fought by his side against the Olympians when Zeus led his allies against them in the ten-year long battle for the cosmos known as the Titanomachy. He was said to have been a god of mortality, and may have wielded a great spear in battle. Following the Titans' defeat at the hands of the Zeus's usurpers, Iapetus and his siblings were imprisoned in the abyss of Tartarus.
