A Hikeshi Baba is a type of yokai-hag from Japanese folklore that manifests as an ugly woman who despises any source of light.
She thus will seek out and destroy lanterns in order to cloak an area in darkness, she seeks to bring the world into gloom and while humans are not directly attacked by this frightful hag her dedication to bringing darkness brings more malicious yokai and demons in its wake, who follow her around and indeed she dedicates herself to ensuring the world is made into a more suitable place for such malignant beings.
