Heffalumps are fearful elephant-like creatures that first appeared in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and are main antagonists. Unlike the Woozles, the Heffalumps later became Pooh's allies and friends with him.
Biography[]
In the books of A.A. Milne, Heifers were portrayed as products of Pooh's nightmares. In the first book, while Heifers ate honey in their dreams, Pooh Bear became deeply distraught and woke up to find that nothing had happened. In The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a very similar instance occurs to Pooh with the heffalumps and warts after Tigger's appearance, shortly before they meet. Due to Tigger's words, Pooh Bear stays up all night, protecting the honey from her.After hours of being awake, he falls into a dream in which, as in the first book, he dreams of heffelants, and this time, of wartas as well. Although he doesn't seem deeply distressed by the nightmare, Pooh shows signs of discomfort all night.When he wakes up, he talks to himself in the mirror and never mentions this to his friends.
