Hector Barbossa was a pirate active in the Caribbean Sea and the Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea. He was also a deadly enemy and nemesis of Jack Sparrow.

Biography[]

Youth[]

Hector Barbossa was born in Portugal on a farm in the countryside surrounding the city of Lisbon. His family was very poor and his father raised Hector with great severity and sometimes even violence. When he was 13 years old, Hector ran away from home and, fixed by the sea, decided to become a sailor.

Rebel Pirates[]

When Hector Barbossa became a pirate, he was the captain of a small schooner called Cobra. The Cobra was attacked by mysterious rebel pirates who violated the code of the Brotherhood. Barbossa reported the attack to the Brotherhood and on this occasion met the young Jack Sparrow for the first time. Months later it was discovered that the captain of these rogue pirates was Boris "Borya" Palachnick, the Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea. Boris was sentenced to death and thus, while in prison, he handed over his title of Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea to Hector Barbossa asking him to forgive him for sinking the Cobra.

When Barbossa was the second in command of the Black Pearl, the fastest pirate ship in the world and captained by Jack Sparrow, Hector managed to convince his captain to reveal the location of the treasure. Of cuts. Once he found out that he was on Isla de Muerta he mutinied along with the entire crew and left Jack on a lonely island with a gun and a single bullet that in case of despair should serve to commit suicide. Which Jack kept for 10 years in which Barbossa found the treasure that turned out to carry with him a terrible curse that makes them become living skeletons in the moonlight.


Killed by an old enemy[]

Ten years after Barbossa and his crew on the Black Pearl are still afflicted with the curse but have been plundering ports and accumulating wealth to send to Isla de Muerta and through an Aztec ritual in which a member of the Turner family is needed to undo the curse, this is because Bill Turner for a cannon, simply because he always disagreed with the idea of leaving Jack and told them that they would end up cursed. Assaulting the city of Port Royal, Barbossa already has enough treasures to deliver to the Isla de Muerta and in the city a young woman to whom who says her name is Elizabeth Turner boards the Black Pearl and Barbossa takes her to the Isla de Muerta for the ritual but when they arrive Barbosa realizes that Elizabeth is not Turner and she herself recognizes him. Elizabeth is rescued by Will Turner and takes her and the medallion to the interceptor to escape Barbossa, but Jack Sparrow was on Isla de Muerta along with William but Jack was left behind and alone at the mercy of his old enemy Barbossa. Jack tries to make a deal with Barbossa but has nothing to offer except William's name, but Barbossa finds the Interceptor and gets the medallion and Will Turner.

Then Barbossa leaves Jack again on the same deserted island as that time with the same gun and this time along with Elizabeth. Barbossa marches to Isla de Muerta with Will Turner and the medallion but when they arrive and are about to perform the ritual, Jack Sparrow appears on the island along with the powerful Dauntless of the royal navy commanded by Commodore Norrington.

At the end of the first movie Barbossa is killed by Jack after William returned the treasure pieces and his blood. He was shot to death with the same pistol he gave Jack when he left him on the island, which he carried for 10 years.
