Haunter is a Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon and the evolved form of Gastly. It lurks in dark, forboding places such as dilapidated buildings and cemeteries.
Pokédex Data[]
When Gastly evolves into Haunter, it appears to have a more defined shape, though it is still incorporeal and able to pass through solid matter. Its body develops a series of spikes on its sides, its mouth widens and displays more teeth, and it grows a wispy tail. Haunter also gains two disembodied hands, each sporting three clawed digits.
Haunters are said to be behind many folk tales and legends regarding ghosts. Whenever a person trips and falls for no reason or hears a sound that cannot be identified, that is supposedly a Haunter's doing. Being able to turn invisible and pass through solid walls, Haunter lurks in the darkness watching unwary victims. When it strikes, it will lick its victim with its long, spectral tongue. Haunter's tongue is cold to the touch and has a paralytic effect, causing victims to shudder and spasm uncontrollably. This effect lasts until the victim dies.
Abilities[]
- Lick - Haunter licks its opponent, causing minor damage but also leaving the enemy paralysed.
- Confuse Ray - Haunter unleashes a beam of light that leaves its opponent dazed and confused.
- Smog - Haunter expels a noxious gas from its mouth that can poison its foe.
- Shadow Claw - Haunter slashes at its opponent with its disembodied claws. This attack has a high critical-hit ratio.
Evolution[]
It is unknown how Haunter evolves in the wild, but a trained Haunter may evolve into Gengar when traded with another Trainer.
