Hamelin is a character who appears in Wyrd Games' Malifaux universe.
Description[]
On the outside, Hamelin looks like an ordinary human being. But it's the inside what counts. The human known as Hamelin was possessed by the spirit of an ancient Tyrant known as Plague. This fusion can command the forces of pestilence and disease like they were intelligent beings. He carries the Black Staff, which enhances his powers.
Hamelin is also an experimentist and continuously looking for new ways - both natural and unnatural - to spread contagion. And Malifaux certainly has ample opportunities for both.
History[]
Far back in time, tyrant Plague was known by another name now lost. He became the Plague when he lost his physical form and became an immaterial spirit of disease. His aspiration was to ascend into godhood and then dominate all life, but his plan was thwarted by Titania and her alliance. The tyrant was too strong to be destroyed, but it was sealed inside a tomb deep beneath the ground.
It was Hamelin, a human, who happened to come across the tomb of the tyrant. As a consequence, the human being ceased to exist and all of it's consciousness was replaced by that of Plague, who was free once again. From then on he has aggressively, albeit stealthily, spread his presence over Malifaux.
Powers and Abilities[]
Control Disease[]
- Plague spirit can exhibit some form of control over those who have diseases. This is particularly true in the form of creatures known as stolen, who are essentially living zombies, controlled by Hamelin's disease magic.
Disease Aura[]
- Mere presence of Hamelin is enough to passively cause temporary sickness.
Disease Magic[]
- He can spread disease via supernatural means, and cause rapid advance of different maladies that otherwise would have lenghty incubation period.
Permanent Domination[]
- With willpower strong enough to wipe the mind of lesser beings, Hamelin is making essentially living zombies that serve as conduits for tyrant's magic and life force.
