Grootslang is a hybrid animal from African Mythology that range from Ethiopia to the Congo that is said to have started out as one creature until the gods decided it's an abomination and split them up into two creatures, Elephant and Snake, but the species of Grootslang endured into African Mythology.

The Grootslang is a combination of an Elephant and a Python, which makes it the abomination that gave the gods a reason to split it into Elephant and Snake. Some may believe it had features of an elephant but serpent like qualities as seen in the picture in the right.
