The Grim Reaper, frequently simply referred to as Death, was a character who appeared in the 1991 sci-fi/fantasy/comedy movie Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Description[]

A tall humanoid entity, the Grim Reaper had skin of a deathly pallor, dressed in a voluminous black robe, and carried a long scythe as his badge of office. He was seemingly capable of travelling anywhere in existence, and could return dead creatures to life. Although initially something of a cantankerous being, Death had a very dry sense of humour and over the course of the film was shown to become somewhat fond of Bill and Ted, eventually becoming one of their band, the Wyld Stallyns, in which he played double bass.

History[]

After being beaten in a series of challenges by Bill and Ted over their souls, Death was forced to do their bidding. First stopping off in Heaven to enlist the help of Station in defeating their adversary Chuck De Nomolos and his evil androids, the group then travelled to Earth where they, along with a pair of good robots built by Station, both won the Battle of the Bands and ensured their place as the greatest rock group of all time.

Whilst Death was shown during the end credits to have left the Wyld Stallyns to pursue a solo career, this was a flop, and he later made a most triumphant return to the group.
