The Giant Snake is a creature which is briefly encountered in the 2017 novelisation of the monster movie Kong: Skull Island.

Appearance[]

Measuring at least sixty feet in length, the Giant Snake has a body camouflaged to took like a tree vine, a head as large as that of a full-grown human’s, and fangs the length of a man’s finger. Unusually for a snake, it is both venomous, and capable of using constriction to subdue its prey.

History[]

After Kong attacks the helicopter-mounted members of the scientific expedition sent to Skull Island and downs the entire group, ex-Special Air Service tracker James Conrad attempts to gain high ground in order to get a better look at the surrounding topography. Whilst climbing a steep hillside, he grabs what he thinks is a vine, but turns out to be the midsection of a colossal snake, which lunges down at him in an attempt to strike. Luckily for Conrad, he is able to grab his combat knife and slice the beasts tongue before it can bite him. The creature then wraps its coils around him and tries to squeeze the life from him, but again, Conrad is able to bring his knife to bear, this time stabbing it through the head, causing it to release him and slither off into the undergrowth.
