Gargantua is a collossal stone golem that acts as the 4th Floor Guardian of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, appearing in the manga and anime series Overlord. Unlike the other floor guardians, Gargantua is not a creation of Ainz Ooal Gown. Rather, it was a prize won by the guild when they first conquered Nazarick. Either due to this or due to its nature as a golem, Gargantua is the only NPC in Nazarick that didn't become sentient upon the Great Tomb's transportation to the New World, and cannot move unless ordered to by Momonga.
Appearance[]
Gargantua is an ultra-large, stone golem, towering at over 30m in height. Its arms and legs are chunky, s, and its round eye sockets and chest are glowing with red lines that permeate from its chest, like a heart.
History[]
When the original Ainz Ooal Gown first assaulted Nazarick, they recieved a few rewards for conquering the dungeon. One of these rewards was Gargantua, a stone golem, which the guild immediately put in charge of guarding the 4th floor, replacing the giant white bat that was the previous guardian. Gargantua would presumably be killed in the 1500-man raid on Nazarick, as the raid managed to reach the 8th Floor before it was finally defeated. However, it would be ressurected before YGGDRASIL's servers shut down, allowing Gargantua to join the other denizens of the Great Tomb of Nazarick in the New World.
Gargantua has only been activated once in the New World, during Nazarick's conquest of the Lizardmen tribes in the Great Lakes region. It was one of the floor guardians sent in to scare the lizardmen into submission, which it did by throwing a large boulder onto the surface of the frozen lake. Minutes before this boulder was thrown, Ainz Ooal Gown had placed his throne on it in front of almost all the floor guardians, with the exception of Cocytus. After finishing its task, Gargantua vanished from the vicinity.
