Fukuro Mujina are a type of yokai found in Japanese folklore and mythology.
On the surface they appear to simply be female versions of Mujina, carrying large bags and being fond of tricks and pranks - however instead of being magical badgers they are in reality haunted bags, who simply take the shape of mujina to further perplex the living world and thus are part of the tsukumogami family of yokai.
Like most tsukumogami, Fukuro Mujina are fond of puns and indeed their very appearance is a play on a popular phrase “to price a badger in a hole", which was the Japanese version of the English phrase "to count your chickens before they are hatched."
