The Fire Master is an enemy that appears in the night-time stages of Sonic Unleashed. It is a variant of the Dark Master, an intelligent Dark Gaia minion with a humanoid appearance.
The Fire Master's form consists of dark-blue robes with glowing yellow markings and yellow eyes beneath its hood. It carries a glowing orange staff that allows it to conjure and manipulate fire. In combat, it can cast fireballs at Sonic from a distance, or if fighting up close,it can augment its physical attacks with flames.
For defense, the Fire Master can teleport around the battlefield to avoid attacks. It is also capable of wrapping itself in flames, resulting in Sonic taking damage when he attacks. In battles that include Fire Masters, buckets or barrels containing water are usually present which Sonic can pick up and throw at a Fire Master, dousing their flame shields and making it possible to attack them without also taking damage.
