Targs are porcine herding animals native to the planet Qo'noS in the Star Trek universe. Appearing to be similar to Earth boars, targs were distinguished by the thick fur manes covering the fronts of their bodies and the bony spikes jutting from their heads and backs. The Klingons regularly hunted wild targs for sport and also raised domesticated targs as pets or livestock. In many areas of Qo'noS and other Klingon-occupied planets, targs have even been regarded as pests and collision hazards for ground-based vehicles.
