Shadows are the most common and basic form of Heartless encountered in the Kingdom Hearts series. These creatures appear to have a short, impish stature, having crooked limbs and a pair of spindly antennae atop their heads. Their bodies appear to be comprised entirely of an inky black material, save for the two tiny yellow eyes on their heads.
Shadows are mindless creatures that scamper about in search of hearts to prey upon. In combat, they can evade attacks by melting into the ground as literal shadows and will then pop up behind their prey to attack with their sharp claws. They have no other attacks and are quite weak but are nearly always encountered in large groups.
