Xoth is a location which features in the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu Mythos.

Description[]

A green binary star system thought to be situated somewhere in the constellation of Taurus, it has also been speculated that Xoth is in fact the star Sirius, although the first explanation seems more likely. It has been described as glittering "like a daemonic eye in the blackness beyond Abbith."

History[]

In long ages past, Xoth was the site of a meeting between Great Cthulhu and his half-sister Idh-yaa, and where the pair spawned their three progeny, Ghatanothoa, Ythogtha and Zoth-Ommog. Later, Cthulhu took their offspring on a sojourn to Earth, whilst Idh-yaa remained, inhabiting the subterranean caverns of one of Xoth's satellite worlds.

Xoth is also the home system of Ycnágnnisssz and Zstylzhemghi and the latter's mate Ghisguth, and was the site of their coupling, the union producing the Great Old One known as Tsathoggua. However, Ghisguth and Tsathoggua later left the system to escape the depredations of the cannibalistic Outer God Cxaxukluth.
