El Cochero sin Cabeza also known in English (The Headless Coachman), is the ghost of a coachman named Pancracio Soto who was beheaded by a gang of assailants.
Legend[]
A man called Pancracio Sóto that in his youth, was part of the liberating army. His courage and commitment to duty caught the attention of one of his officers, who after the consummation of independence, made him her henchman.
They were hard times, the roads were dangerous. Pancracio assumed as his fundamental work, protecting his employer, for this as more than one occasion tried to fill it in with this task, he insisted on being her coachman.
But one night his luck would change. When trying to cross the Lozqueñez bridge, he saw in the middle of the road a stranger who begged him to take him to town. However, it was actually a robber who wanted to distract his attention. It was not easy to fool Pancracio. He looked at him suspiciously, and he got ready to continue his journey.
But it was too late; another thief was already on the coach, who when seeing that it would not be so easy, did not hesitate to cut off his head.
Other version of the Legend[]
From Huilquilemu, a man was continuously transferred to a farm by his coachman. On a full moon occasion where dogs barked, he was attacked by bandits who cut off his head, but he continued driving without it in search of his employer. When the coachman arrived to fulfill his mission, the boss got into his car without realizing what had happened, gave him the order and they left for his farm. Already in Huilquilemu, in the mangers, one of the young men who helped out saw that the driver was headless, the waiter ran desperately to tell what he had seen, but the headless driver had disappeared with horses and a carriage. Since then, the carriage with its headless driver has appeared in Huilquilemu, a town near Talca, two full moon nights a year, the car with its headless driver in the midst of a bustle of dogs. "What are those nights?" Nobody assures what they can be, but within the year they happen.

According to legend, it is about a ghost that travels in a carriage drawn by black horses or in some versions white or gray horses, and that as its name indicates it is a coachman that has no head whose real name was Pancracio Soto, he is said who lost his head due to an accident caused by the branch of a huge tree or was murdered by robbers in the middle of the road literally one of the robbers beheaded the coachman.
