Gastly is a Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon and the first Ghost-type to be discovered by humans. It tends to dwell in dark places such as caves or abandoned buildings and shuns sunlight.

Gastly is an incorporeal Pokémon that seems to be made out of an eerie purple fog. Its "body" is a black orb with wide eyes and a mouth, from which protrude two elongated fangs. The gas that surrounds it has a faint, sweet aroma, but it is also toxic and can cause people to lose consciousness or suffocate. Being a gaseous creature, Gastly is capable of passing through even the smallest of gaps in surfaces.
Though considered by some to be malicious, Gastly is actually rather playful and enjoys playing pranks and scaring people. It is also connected in some way to the spirit world and has shown a willingness to pass on messages from deceased humans to their loved ones.
Abilities[]
- Night Shade - Gastly strikes its opponent with a wave of dark energy. This attack always hits and causes damage egardless of the opposing Pokémon's type.
- Hypnosis - Gastly's hypnotic powers can put its enemies to sleep or make them see frightful illusions.
- Poison Gas - The vapour surrounding Gastly's body can sap an opponent's vitality.
- Dream Eater - Gastly feeds on the good dreams of its sleeping victims and replaces them with nightmares.
