The Black Fungus is a type of Emblem Heartless that appears in the Kingdom Hearts game series. It is part of the "Mushroom" Heartless family, though oddly enough it is the only one of them that behaves aggressively.
Like the other "Mushroom" Heartless, the Black Fungus is vaguely humanoid; it has pitch black skin and beady yellow eyes, like most Heartless, and sports a purple-coloured cap upon its head resembling a mushroom cap. It wears a black robe adorned with the Heartless emblem.
Unlike the other "Mushroom" Heartless, the Black Fungus will attack Sora, Donald and Goofy. It moves slowly and only has one form of attack: releasing a cloud of poisonous smoke around it, affecting anyone standing near it. The poison slowly saps HP and lasts several seconds. The Black Fungus also has a unique method of defence: it can turn itself into stone for brief periods, making it invulnerable to any form of attack.
