The Black Ballade is a type of Emblem Heartless that appears in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. Appearing solely in the Bamboo Thicket area of the Deep Jungle, the Black Ballade is a small, black, cone-shaped enemy that does not threaten the player directly. It hovers about in the air and will split itself into five clones when Sora approaches. Rather than fight the Black Ballades in all-out combat, Sora must play a game with them; he must target and attack the original one without hitting any of the copies.
When the Black Ballade splits into five, they will shuffle themselves in a row and Sora must identify the original one and attack it. If he strikes the original, it will take a set amount of damage before the Ballades reshuffle. If Sora hits the wrong one, the Ballade will take no damage and will counterattack with a Thunder spell before the group reshuffles. The lightning attack cannot be avoided.
After a set number of shuffles, if Sora succeeds in defeating the Black Ballade, he will be rewarded with a Lightning Stone as well as a large sum of munny and EXP. If Sora fails, the Black Ballade will run away.
