Felinids, or Homo sapiens hirsutus as they are described by the Imperial Adeptus Biologicus, are a race of creatures from Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Description[]

The Felinids were created when human DNA was spliced with that of terrestrial felines; the reason for this is unknown, but is thought to have been a modification made in order for humans to more easily survive on their chosen colony world of Carlos McConnell, the only planet in Imperial space which Felinids are known to occupy.

Whilst the general populace is unaware of the existence of Felinids, the few that do know of them describe the species as being cat-like humanoids with a coat of soft fur and elongated canids, which possess a preternatural grace and agility.

Notes[]

  • Interestingly, the Imperium of Man - an organisation famously intolerant of anything which deviates from the human norm - accepts the existence of Felinids. They were long ago registered by the Administratum as a species which is officially part of Imperial culture. This was likely the doing of an ages-gone Inquisitor, who decided that they were either friendly enough to humanity of the time, or that they did not pose enough of a threat to warrant an Exterminatus. As Imperial bureaucracy takes so long to implement current policy, it is probable that when this race again comes to the attention of the Administratum it will be designated as a species to be cleansed.
