The Evolved Licker is a Licker variant that appears in Resident Evil 2. Unlike the other Lickers roaming Raccoon City during the game, this creature is not merely a further mutation of zombies but an engineered specimen. Umbrella produced a number of these evolved Lickers in the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory under controlled circumstances, but they escaped containment as the T-virus outbreak escalated.
There are some notable differences between the standard and evolved Lickers. The evolved specimens' flesh is tinted a greyish-green, their tongues are thinner but also stronger, and the talons on their forelimbs have fused into long scythe-like claws. They are somewhat more resilient to gunfire than standard Lickers, though their brain tissue is still exposed and remains a serious weakness.
Trivia[]
- Evolved Lickers also appear in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
- Evolved Lickers do not appear in the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake. Where they would normally appear in the NEST facility, they are substituted with normal Lickers.
