Eos was a character who appeared in Greek mythology. One of the legendary Titans of prehistory, she was a celestial giant who wielded the power of the gods.

Description[]

Portrayed as a beautiful woman dressed in a flowing saffron robe and tiara adorned with feathers of the purest white, Eos is usually depicted as having rosy hands and forearms, given to her by the rays of the sun as she opened the gates of Heaven each morning to gift the world with light. As the Titan goddess of the dawn, she also possessed a glowing chariot pulled by two shining steeds, Daybright and Firebright, but was not responsible for the actual movement of the sun across the skies, this falling to her brother Helios.

History[]

Eos was one of the second generation of Titans, born to Theia and Hyperion, her siblings being Helios, the personification of the sun, and Selene, that of the moon.

Eos was cursed by a jealous Aphrodite to be forever in love, after Eos slept with Aphrodite's love Ares, leading her to kidnap a number of mortal men in her quest to satiate her desire, often with tragic consequences.
