Enchantress, is a fictional character from the DC Comics universe who has been both a super-villain. She debuted in Strange Adventures #187 (April 1966), created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell.
At an excavation site, Dr. Moone discovered an ancient relic containing the disembodied spirit of a powerful, ancient witch who consumes souls to survive. It must be voluntarily invoked and it then takes possession of its "host", endowing it with vast powers of unfolding reality. After being defeated by the "Suicide Squad", she regained control of her life, allying herself with the team and deciding to use the spirit within herself for better purposes.
