Effigy

The Effigy is a bizarre creature that appears as a mini-boss in The Evil Within 2. Appearing near the end of the game, this monster was created by Myra Castellanos in an effort to stop her husband Sebastian from their daughter, Lilly.

Appearance[]

The Effigy is a large creature that appears to resemble two humanoids fused together haphazardly, the one on the left having its head fused into the body, while the one on the right has a vague, articulating torso. Both of its original arms are melded into its chest, forming a straightjacket. It can be presumed that each of them holds control over half of the other's arms. The creature's body structure is akin to a bridge, with the midsection bearing a pink, glowing growth that serves as its weak spot.

The Effigy's form seems to be primarily comprised of psychoplasm, the viscous white substance that makes up all of Myra's creations. Most astonishing of all, a telephone pole appears to be driven through the monster's body. The live wires dangling from the pole can be manipulated by the creature and used to electrocute foes.

Behaviour[]

The Effigy is completely subservient to Myra, attacking whomever she wills it to. It uses its whole body as a weapon, thrashing at Sebastian with its limbs or attempting to crush him with its entire mass. It also uses its telephone pole in combat, manipulating the electrical cables to whip Sebastian and create electrified areas on the ground to shock him.

Weakness[]

A glowing pink area in the Effigy's midsection is its weak spot. The ideal strategy to use against this creature is to slow its movements with Freeze Bolts from the Warden Crossbow, then follow up with Explosive Bolts to deal damage. Firing Explosive Bolts directly at the Effigy is not necessarily wise; instead it may be safer to shoot the bolts into the ground to set a trap to catch the Effigy as it is charging.
