Edalyn "Eda" Clawthorne - also commonly known as the Owl Lady - is the deuteragonist of the Disney animated series The Owl House. She is well-known and respected as the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles and is also a wanted criminal, both for running numerous illicit deals and scams as well as practicing wild magic.
Biography[]
Childhood[]

Edalyn and her sister Lilith were born to Dell and Gwendolyn Clawthorne. During their childhood, both Eda and her older sister were highly competitive, but still very close. The two dreamed of joining the Emperor's Coven and Eda was captain of the Banshees, her school Grudgby team. While extremely talented in nearly all forms of magic, Eda was also the most notorious troublemaker in the history of Hexside. She caused multiple incidents at the school, almost getting herself expelled, but her drive to succeed and her natural magical talent prevented this.
When threatened with expulsion from Principal Faust, Eda did not want to be separated from her sister, and was forced to win a blue ribbon from IFWOT program. Should she fail, she would be expelled from Hexside and unable to participate in the Emperor's Coven tryouts. There, Eda met a St. Epiderm bard student named Raine Whispers, who helped her pass the various challenges. The exam proctor, Terra Snapdragon, was unimpressed with the challenges of IFWOT and added one final challenge, a game of Covens and Wilds. Raine was assigned as a "Wild Witch" while Eda was a "Coven Witch," forcing the two to be on opposing sides. Raine lasted the longest of the Wild Witches, and when they got cornered, Eda betrayed her teammates, leaving the two friends to face off against each other. However, instead of attacking each other, Raine and Eda cooperated to launch an attack on the proctor instead. Unexpectedly, Terra was amused by their behavior, but she gave out no ribbons to the students. However, she also promised to put in a good word for both Eda and then-Vice Principal Bump, allowing them to remain at Hexside. Once Raine transferred to Hexside, Eda would become very close to them before becoming romantic partners at some undisclosed point.
Curse of the Owl Beast[]

By the time that Eda and Lilith were old enough to tryout for the Emperor's Coven, a significant gap in the sisters' abilities had formed, with Eda being the more powerful of the two. With limited spots available, Lilith resorted to desparate measures and placed a curse on Eda while she slept. On the day of the tryouts, the sisters were due to face each other in a duel, but Eda, no longer interested in being part of any coven, decided to forfeit the match. As she walked away from the field, however, Eda's curse manifested and she suddenly transformed into a horrific owl-like beast. The terrified onlookers began throwing rocks at Eda, chasing her away. This transformation would lead to Eda becoming known as "The Owl Lady" in her adult years.
During her teens, Eda would have a number of sudden Owl Beast transformations. During one such incident, she injured her father while in owl form, leaving Dell unable to continue his practice of carving Palismen. Because of this, Eda would later cut herself out of her father's life, ashamed of what she had done to him despite not being in control of her actions. Eda's mother would seek help in trying to heal the curse, but the Healer's Coven could only provide Eda with a gemstone that would help her keep track of the beast's energy. Learning that there was no cure for this particular curse, Eda decided to run away from home. As she ran, she tripped over a briefcase-shaped object buried in the dirt. This object was, in fact, a portal to the human realm, which Eda used to escape from her worried mother. Eda would later find a way to manage her curse with elixirs, but she wouldn't learn who had cursed her until decades later.
Life of crime[]
Although Eda would work out an effective elixir system to keep her curse in check, this didn't stop it from affecting her life in very serious ways. She had attempted to pursue a romantic relationship with Raine, but ultimately decided to keep her distance from them out of fear that the Owl Beast would one day hurt them. She distanced herself from her family as well, especially after Lilith was accepted into the Emperor's Coven. Becoming disillusioned with Emperor Belos and his coven system, Eda actively embraced wild magic, though this made her both a social outcast and an outlaw.

At one point, while running from the Emperor's Coven, Eda came across an uncharted island where she took shelter from the boiling rains inside an ancient castle. Within the castle, she encountered a small demon wearing a skull on its head, at first thinking that it was some kind of dog. At the same time, she was attacked by a golem-like creature. She took the infant demon with her and fled from the castle, though the creature did manage to sever one of the infant's horns. Eda took the small demon home with her and would name him "King", after the first word he spoke.
Over the years, Eda would make a name for herself as she produced and sold various potions. At some unknown point, she moved into the Owl House located on the cliffs just outside the town of Bonesborough. Here, she would hide away from society whilst also practicing various forms of magic and planning out various business ventures, usually of the illegal variety. She would also use the portal case to make trips to the human realm where she would collect various random items that she believed she could sell back home.
Meeting Luz Noceda[]

One fateful day, when Eda had sent her palisman Owlbert to the human realm to gather up more junk to sell, a human girl had followed Owlbert back through the portal. Among the various items Owlbert had dragged back was one of the Good Witch Azura books that belonged to the girl. Thinking that the book was worthless, Eda almost burned it for kindling, but the girl snatched it back. Though startled by the appearance of a human, Eda saw the girl as a potential customer and tried to sell her some wares, including a portable television, or as Eda referred to it, "a shadow box that reflects only sadness". The girl, introducing herself as Luz Noceda, showed Eda how the TV worked, which attracted a crowd of interested onlookers. It also caught the attention of a Coven Guard who attempted to arrest Eda, but she escaped with her flying staff and took Luz with her.
Eda would take Luz back to the Owl House, introducing her to Hooty and King. She then struck a deal with the human, promising to let her go home in exchange for helping her and King break into the Conformatorium to retrieve King's Crown of Power. The crown was being held within a forcefield that only a human would be able to pass through, and was under the guard of the fearsome Warden Wrath. Luz agreed to help and the trio later infiltrated the Conformatorium where they not only retrieved the Crown of Power (which turned out to be nothing more than a paper kids meal crown from a fast food restaurant) but also freed a group of wrongly-imprisoned inmates and confronted and subsequently humiliated the Warden. During this confrontation, however, the crown was burned by Wrath's fiery breath, though the trio did manage to obtain a stuffed rabbit toy that King would name "François".
Following the debacle at the Conformatorium, Luz decided that she wanted to stay in the demon realm and asked if Eda would take her on as a witch apprentice. Eda stated that humans couldn't perform magic, though Luz countered that maybe none had tried. Intrigued, Eda agreed to mentor Luz in the ways of magic and let the human stay with her at the Owl House.
Mentorship and misadventures[]

Initially, Eda took a rather lackadaisical approach to teaching Luz about magic, telling her where it came from but not how to perform it. She also had Luz run errands for her, such as selling potions around Bonesborough and helping her keep the house clean, including having to wash Hooty. In truth, she was unsure as to how a human could perform magic, though Luz would soon discover that she could use glyphs to perform spells. In fact, it was during a mishap at home when Eda transformed into the Owl Beast that Luz learned how to cast basic light spells which helped her and King subdue Eda long enough to get her to drink an elixir to turn her back to normal.
Luz would soon learn about conventional magic schooling on the Boiling Isles when she met Willow Park, a student at Hexside, and got into trouble after having Willow sneak her into the school while disguised as an Abomination. Initially, Eda was strongly opposed to the idea of Luz going to school since she considered Hexside's methods of teaching to be too restrictive, but having grown fond of Luz by this time, she wanted to make her happy and considered the possibility that a proper school might be able to teach the human some things that she couldn't.

Following the Abomination incident, Luz was banned from setting foot on Hexside's campus again, but Eda would later make a deal with Principal Bump to get the ban lifted and Luz enrolled in the next semester. To get Luz into Hexside, Eda was tasked with cleaning up all of the graffiti and other messes she had made during her time as a student. Though she strongly considered just giving up, Eda decided to keep going for Luz' sake. While Eda was busy cleaning up, Luz had snuck into Hexside once again with the help of Augustus Porter who wanted to show her off to the Human Appreciation Society. Her misadventure led to the destruction of the school's detention pit, but Gus willingly took the fall for this incident and thus Luz was allowed to enrol as per Eda's and Bump's agreement.

While waiting for the new semester to begin, Eda would take Luz to the Knee to teach her about wild magic. During this excursion, Eda would attempt to teach Luz seemingly pointless skills such as identifying types of snow by taste. While Luz found this to be embarrassing, Eda told her that wild magic was all about making a connection with nature. Quickly losing patience with Eda's methods, Luz borrowed a training wand from Amity Blight, who was also at the Knee training with her siblings Edric and Emira. While practicing with the wand, however, she accidentally cast a fireball at a nearby Slitherbeast, enraging it. The wounded and angry creature captured Eda and the Blight twins, taking them back to its lair, intending to eat them later. Eda originally planned to make an escape while the creature was busy eating the twins, but Luz came to the rescue equipped with a new ice glyph. While Luz led the beast away, Amity freed her siblings and the Owl Lady with a fireball spell. After puting a stop to the Slitherbeast's rampage with a sleeping spell, Eda told Luz how proud she was of her for making a connection with the island's magic, and now that she knew a second spell, she could attend the same classes as Amity at Hexside.
Persecution[]

As Eda tried to teach Luz the ways of magic, she found that her curse was becoming stronger as it was taking more and more elixir to keep it from manifesting. Further adding to her stress was her sister and the Emperor's Coven regularly harassing her and trying to arrest her or force her to join a coven. With each stressful situation she found herself in, Eda would use magic to resolve it, which only made the effects of the curse worsen.
One day, Eda was making a cloak from witches' wool in order to surprise Luz. However, Willow and Gus would arrive at her door and tell her that Luz had been kidnapped from school by Lilith, giving her a message stating that Lilith would be waiting for her at the Emperor's Castle for a duel. Enraged that her sister would stoop to such lengths to try and bring her in, Eda immediately set off to the castle to save Luz. At the castle, she fought with Lilith while Luz watched helplessly from within a magical bubble. As the sisters fought, they traded insults and verbal jabs, and in her frustration Lilith revealed that she was the one who had originally cursed Eda. This revelation further engorged Eda's rage and she lashed out with all the power at her disposal, also breaking the bubble trapping Luz while at the same time knocking her into the pit of spikes around the castle. Eda managed to save Luz from impalement, but used up so much magic that she underwent what she feared might be her final transformation into the Owl Beast. Before completely transforming, she told Luz to take care of King and feed Hooty before thanking the human for being part of her life. She then transformed and Lilith restrained her within a magical bubble before taking her into the castle.
Trapped in her Owl Beast form, Eda was restrained while being presented to Emperor Belos. Lilith had been led to believe that the Emperor would heal Eda's curse after being brought in and that the two could serve in the Emperor's Coven together. However, Belos only restores Eda's consciousness and tells Lilith that he was never going to cure her, that she was to be punished for her crimes by petrification. The Emperor also told Lilith that he wanted to have Eda's human apprentice brought to him. Having been brought back to her senses, Eda begged Lilith to keep Luz safe.
While Eda awaited execution, Luz was able to enter the Emperor's Castle with Lilith's help. Eda apologized to Luz for everything that was happening and gave her the key to her portal case, telling her to go back to the human realm and destroy the portal so that Belos could not use it for his plans. She was then raised up on a dais into the centre of an execution yard where thousands of onlookers had gathered to witness her petrification. Many of the citizens were crying out in objection as they felt that Eda had done nothing serious enough to warrant such a punishment, but the public protest was ignored and the petrification process was initiated. However, Luz, Lilith and King interrupted the procedure, with Luz deactivating the petrifying machine. After Lilith broke her restraints, Eda took flight, picking up her sister, Luz and King and flying them back to the Owl House.

After returning home, Lilith, in an act of sisterly love, cast a pain-sharing spell that split the Owl Beast curse between her and Eda. Not only did this mean that Lilith would be at risk of transforming into an Owl Beast, but it had the additional effect of robbing both sisters of their ability to use magic. With the curse weakened, Eda found that her elixirs worked again, though now Lilith would need them as well. While neither could use magic on their own anymore, they were still capable of brewing potions and Luz could teach them what she had learned about glyph-based magic.
Unfortunately for Eda, word soon spread across Bonesborough that she had been rendered powerless. Emperor Belos' guards had also began spreading propaganda around town regarding the upcoming Day of Unity and were urging all coven-less witches to hurry and join a coven. More and more people were being swayed by Belos' rhetoric of the dangers of wild magic and that Eda and others like her were defying the will of the Titan. Finding it near-impossible to continue her usual businesses in Bonesborough, Eda and Luz had to resort to bounty-hunting to make ends meet. Luckily, after a misadventure involving having to hunt a Selkidomus, they were able to obtain a large amount of valuable selkigris, solving their money troubles for the time being.
Reconciling with family[]

After losing her magic, Eda welcomed Lilith to stay with her at the Owl House as she was now on the run from the Emperor's Coven. Together, the two reconciled and worked towards a new solution to their mutual problems: managing the curse and regaining their powers. For the time being, Eda's elixirs were working again, but both she and now Lilith were still at risk of the Owl Beast taking over. There was no remedy that either one knew of to restore their magical abilities, so the sisters had to make do with learning to use glyphs, as Luz did.
Three weeks after the incident at Belos' castle, Eda was visited by her mother Gwendolyn. Every year since Eda had left home, Gwendolyn had visited her claiming that she had found a potential cure for her curse, but none of them had ever worked in the slightest and Eda had long since given up hope of being cured, getting by with her elixir system, which her mother disagreed with since she believed that the elixirs were unhealthy and potentially dangerous. While Gwendolyn doted on Eda, she neglected to pay attention to Lilith, something that had caused Lilith considerable stress and anger over the years. This time, it would culminate in Lilith turning into an Owl Beast, and no one was able to feed her an elixir since Gwendolyn had gone and thrown out Eda's entire stash while she and Luz were working on providing a fake cure for Eda.

Gwendolyn and Luz would learn too late that the remedy book she had bought was fraudulent and that she had been scammed. Both Eda and Lilith had turned into their bestial forms and had begun fighting each other in the middle of Bonesborough, terrorizing the townspeople and causing a great deal of damage. Realising her mistakes, Gwendolyn restrained her daughters with Luz' help and begged for their forgiveness. The sisters were then returned to normal once Luz had recovered Eda's stash of elixirs and they cried as their mother embraced them. Following Gwendolyn's visit, Lilith left the Owl House to stay with her parents.
Reunion with Raine[]
Eda would find herself not only reconciling with her family but would soon after meet Raine Whispers once more. In the years since their break-up, Raine had become Head of the Bard Coven and was supposedly working for Emperor Belos. However, they were actually working to undermine Belos, having formed a resistance group known as the Bards Against the Throne (BATs). The BATs told Eda how her cunning and craftiness had inspired their group, and although Raine was initially against it, they welcomed Eda's assistance with their raids. After one successful raid, Eda asked Raine how they managed to become a Head Witch with their stage fright, and Raine playfully responded, "I'm just that good." They then asked Eda if she still remembered any bard spells. Though she was hesitant to perform due to her curse, Raine summoned a lute, and Eda began to play "Raine's Rhapsody." The curse caused Eda's bard magic to corrupt and destroy the objects around her, and she stopped playing, jokingly referring to the song as "Eda's Requiem" due to its destructive effects.

On the day of the Gland Prix racing event, Eda joined Raine for another raid. However, the raid was a trap set up by Head Witches Darius Deamonne and Eberwolf, and with three of the BATs captured, Eda and Raine were forced to hide. The two witches managed to distract their pursuers long enough for Raine to set up a plan; the Day of Unity required all nine Head Witches, and Raine proposed that they take out both Eberwolf and Darius to impede Emperor Belos's plans. To achieve this, Raine weaponized Eda's curse by playing a duet with her, causing everything around them, including themselves, to shrivel and die. Both witches intended to sacrifice themselves to stop the Emperor's plans, but once a photo of Eda with Luz and King fell out of her hair, Raine stopped playing and asked if Eda had kids. They realized that Eda was running away from Luz and King, but just as she told them to give their problems a whack in the face, Raine advised her to not give up so easily, adding that both Luz and King still needed her. Though Darius managed to capture the two, Raine battled the head witches, allowing Eda to escape.
Making peace with the beast[]
Becoming desperate to restore her powers, Eda began spending all her time researching ways to recover her magic, even forcing herself to stay awake for several nights in a row. Concerned that Eda might cause herself to turn into the Owl Beast by overstressing herself, Hooty baked a batch of cookies for her and left them by her bedroom door. The cookies had been filled with sleeping nettle extract and when Eda ate one, she fell asleep within seconds.

The sleeping nettles also heightened Eda's dreams and she found herself falling into a nightmare with the spirit of the Owl Beast haunting her. Aware of her circumstance, Eda saw an opportunity to confront the Owl Beast rather than run from it as she had always done. The nightmare tapped into her memories, causing Eda to relive some of the worst moments of her life, such as clawing out her father's eye and breaking up with Raine. In her rage, she attacked the Owl Beast for ruining her life, but in a flash, she found herself experiencing another memory, one that wasn't hers. It was the Beast's memory, but she was in its body as the creature was being captured by a shadowy figure. She attempted to fly away, but her wings were burnt off and she then fell into the ocean and turned into a scroll.
Eda then found herself waking up on a beach with the Owl Beast tethered to her by a red string. She saw the beast trying to fly away from her, but the attempt was futile. The beast finally exhausted itself and climbed ashore, collapsing next to her. Eda took pity on the poor creature, and realized that neither of them want to be trapped with each other. She decided to make peace with the creature, feeding it some of her elixir before admiring the aurora, stating she never had a dream this pretty.

Eda then woke up for real, this time waking to find herself transformed, not into the Owl Beast but rather a hybrid of hers and the beast's form that closely resembled a harpy. Seeing herself in the mirror, Eda was impressed with the change and took an immediate liking to it.
A few days later, while Luz was sick in bed with the common mold, Eda would take King and Amity Blight on an excursion to Eclipse Lake, where it was hoped that they would find Titan's Blood which they could use to make a working portal to the human realm. On their way to Eclipse Lake, the trio caught Hunter, the Golden Guard, and forced him to come along with them. Eda became furious when Hunter doubted her ability to transform into her harpy form. Later, he tried to stop her from touching Fool's Blood, but Eda mistook this as Hunter wanting the Titan's Blood for himself, and cracked it open anyway. This caused the ground to break apart, and Eda fell down the chasm along with King. Luckily, Eda managed to jam her staff in between two walls. Afterwards, the duo managed to catch Amity as a Guard Captain threw her down the fissure. However, the staff couldn't handle the weight of the trio, and Owlbert started cracking slowly. This forced Eda to talk to the Owl Beast, and she managed to strike a deal with it, finally transforming into harpy form successfully. Later, the deal was revealed to be that Eda had to eat some voles on her way home.
With the remains of Eda's portal key, the residents of the Owl House were able to construct a crude, unstable portal to allow Luz to return home. In case the portal unexpectedly began to close, Luz tied a rope to her waist while Eda, King, and Hooty manned the rope to pull her out. During a heartfelt moment between Luz and her mother, the portal began closing, forcing Eda, Hooty, and King to pull Luz to safety.
Raine and the Coven Day Parade[]
As the Coven Day Parade approached, Eda observed Raine acting differently than she remembered and questioned what they were doing. After Luz struck a deal to fake Kikimora's kidnapping, the Owl Lady used the opportunity to get to Raine. Once they were taken away from the parade, they claimed that they hadn't seen Eda in years. With Coven Scouts drawing closer, Raine warned Eda to stay away from them, making Eda reluctantly retreat. She regrouped with Luz, King, Hooty, and Amity, the latter of which having now joined them, and they watched as Belos announced to the Boiling Isles the impending arrival of the Day of Unity.
A couple of days later, Lilith celebrated her new job as a museum curator and Eda told Luz about time pools. After the party, Gwendolyn arrived at the Owl House, mentioning that Eda's father had come to visit. Still wracked with guilt over how she had injured her father years ago, Eda was terrified and she did everything in her power to avoid Dell. She eventually attempted to fly away on her owl staff, but upon seeing Dell upset, she chose to speak up to him, opening up about her busy life and apologizing for scarring him and taking away his ability to carve palismen. Instead, her father gave her a palistrom seed, encouraging her to let the past stay in the past and to move on from what previously defined her. When Lilith and Luz returned from the Deadwardian Era, Eda was shocked to learn that they found time pools.
The Day of Unity[]

As the Day of Unity drew closer, Eda found it increasingly difficult to do business with anyone in Bonesborough as more and more previously covenless witches started being branded with sigils, whether it was by choice or not. Luz became infuriated over the fact that the population seemed to accept Emperor Belos so easily when she knew that he was a fraud and a tyrant, but Eda told her that there was no point in telling the people as such unless she could prove it to them.
After Luz encountered Hunter interrupting a casting by a trio of robed figures, the two of them found themselves caught in the spell circle and transported into Belos' mindscape. Without her own magic, Eda had to come up with a potion that would allow her to free Luz and Hunter. Reluctantly, she resorted to using the last of the Titan's Blood to produce the potion and was able to bring Luz and Hunter back safe and sound, although Hunter had been mortified by what he had discovered in Belos' mind and ran away. Luz told Eda everything she had discovered about the Day of Unity and how it was all an elaborate scheme to wipe out everyone on the Boiling Isles.
The day after Luz' adventure in Belos' mind, she, King and Hooty would venture away from the Boiling Isles on an adventure to find whomever had previously written a letter to King (a letter that Hooty had swallowed). While they were gone, Coven Scouts surrounded the Owl House and attempted to arrest Eda and Lilith. The sisters were able to escape and they fled to the Knee, taking shelter in a cave. Lilith had left behind a map for Luz, King and Hooty to find when they escaped and this allowed the Owl House residents to reunite following Luz and King's excursion. Eda and Lilith were stunned to learn that King was, in fact, a young Titan, the last offspring of the Titan that made up the Boiling Isles.

Much to her dismay, Eda had no plan to stop the Day of Unity. She lied to Luz about it, telling her that they needed to raid some supplies from the Emperor's Coven, who had confiscated everything in the Owl House. Wearing stolen Coven Scout uniforms, the two infiltrated a warehouse. As Luz looked around, Eda heard Raine and managed to contact them via crystall ball, instructing them to get Luz and King away to safety. She realized that Raine remembered her and almost convinced them to help before Terra arrived. After hanging up, she was horrified to discover that Luz had overheard everything, the human now believing she was being abandoned again. The two fought over their opposing views, but their racket caused them to be captured by the Emperor's Coven, and they were placed in a holding cell. There, Eda tearfully confessed to Luz that there was no plan, As they were separated and brought to different prisons, Eda was freed by Raine and met back with Luz in Latissa, where it was revealed that she had joined the Covens Against the Throne, an army of prior allies seeking to stop the Day of Unity. Inside the base camp, Eda encouraged Luz to carve her palisman, bringing out the chunk of palistrom wood stolen from the Emperor's Coven.
As the CATs strategized, they formed a plan to have Eda masquerade as Raine, who was positioned between Darius and Eberwolf, during the Day of Unity. In order to do this, she also needed to be branded with the Bard Coven sigil. Believing her curse would disrupt the draining spell, Eda agreed, wishing Luz luck in freeing the Blight siblings from Blight Manor. As they approached the Head, Steve used a cloaking stone to help Eda mimic Raine's appearance before branding her. After landing, Raine and Lilith gave her words of encouragement before she, Darius, and Eberwolf went to meet up with the other Coven Heads. However, when they gathered, Belos had "Raine" stand between Terra and Adrian instead. When the spell was disrupted, Adrian dispelled Eda's illusion, revealing her deception, and she, Darius, and Eberwolf fought the rest of the Head Witches; they were soon overpowered and defeated. Raine was then dragged out, and the ceremony commenced as the witches were drained of their magic.

With her curse being amplified by the draining spell, Raine removed Eda's newly-branded right arm to save Eda and watched as it disintegrated, fulfilling their promise they made to Luz to keep her safe. Eda was left cradling Raine in her lap as they fell unconscious.
Reign of the Collector[]
When the Collector was freed by King, he quickly went about turning the Boiling Isles into his own personal playground, keeping King around as his "best friend" and playmate. With the Draining Spell stopped, Eda regained consciousness and saw the Collector and King together. Transforming into her harpy form, she flew up to rescue King, but her curse began to act up and she had no elixir to stave it off. The Collector took notice of Eda, inviting her to play with him, at which point Eda transformed into the Owl Beast.

In the months since the Day of Unity, the Collector had caused tremendous damage to the Boiling Isles and had turned several people into puppets that he kept stored in his Archives. Eda had been taken prisoner, but was able to fool the Collector into believing that she was stuck in her Owl Beast form. She remained in the Archives for months, occasionally sneaking out of her cell to see Raine, who had been turned into a puppet along with the other Coven Heads who were all being used to guard her cell. During this time, Lilith had learned to concoct the elixir she and Eda needed to keep their curse at bay.
One day, Eda had snuck out of the Archives with King's help and they reunited with Lilith in order to plan on how to defeat the Collector. Having spent so much time with him, King suggested that the Collector wasn't actually villainous but just a lonely child with too much power. While the group planned together, the Collector was spying on them and caught a part of their conversation, coming to the conclusion (with some manipulation from Belos) that they were trying to get rid of him.

Eda later found herself suddenly inside the Conformatorium in her beast form, locked in a cell while her family cursed her and told her she belonged in captivity. However, this was merely a dream created by the Collector and she would soon be freed from this dream state by Luz, who had found her way back to the Demon Realm. Their happy reunion was cut short when the Collector appeared and forced them to take part in several deadly games.
Eda, King and Luz managed to survive every game, which upset the Collector who started pouting and told them the story of how he came to be imprisoned, as well as how his kind were responsible for wiping out the Titans. He lamented over how he just wanted a friend who wouldn't betray him, noting how close Luz, Eda and King were. Luz and Eda decided to take the Collector to the Owl House and explain to him how they met and came to care for each other.
Defeating Belos[]
Later, Eda, Luz and King took the Collector to the Knee, where Luz told the Collector how she had connected with the Isles and also how she had managed to befriend some of her enemies. Around this time, Belos had managed to fuse himself with the Titan's heart, becoming part of the Boiling Isles themselves, and attempted to use this newfound power to destroy the Isles entirely. The Collector, taking Luz' lesson about kindness and forgiveness too literally, attempted to make peace with Belos by hugging him. Belos attempted to strike down the Collector with a blast of magical fire, but Luz stepped in to protect him and took the blast herself, dying in the process.

Enraged by Belos' callous murder of Luz, Eda and King gained a boost of magical strength and used this power to attack the former emperor. For all their righteous indignation, even this increase in power wasn't enough to stop Belos. However, the duo were stunned to witness Luz suddenly reappear before them, now transformed into a human-Titan hybrid. With the power she had been granted by King's father, Luz, along with Eda and King, fought back against Belos and combined their power to eradicate the strange, fungal corruption that Belos was spreading across the Isles. They then made their way to Belos' castle where Luz was able to tear the emperor's body off of the Titan's heart, destroying the corruption and robbing Belos of his power.
Following the battle, Belos reconstituted himself, taking on his original human form. As he attempted to convince Luz that he had been cursed by dark magic, boiling rain suddenly began to pour and Belos began to melt at its touch. Luz did nothing to help Belos, staring at him with contempt even as he continued to appeal to her humanity whilst his body melted into black sludge. At that moment, Eda, King and Raine appeared from behind Luz and angrily stomped on what was left of Belos' head, finally killing him.
Epilogue[]
With peace was restored to the Boiling Isles once more, the Collector had returned all of the Isles' inhabitants that had been transformed into puppets to normal and Luz, Eda and King reunited with their missing friends. Luz also finally introduced Eda to her mother Camilla; while Eda was nervous about meeting Camilla to begin with, Camilla immediately hugged Eda upon meeting her, showing her gratitude for Eda's care towards Luz during her time on the Isles.

Four years after Belos' defeat, Eda had taken up the position of Headmaster at the newly-established University of Wild Magic. By this time, she had fully mastered her harpy form and even replaced her missing right hand with a golden hook. She attended Luz' belated quinceañera when Luz returned to the Demon Realm to attend college.
Personality[]
Confident and sassy, Eda is best described as rebellious, with Luz calling her "surprisingly foxy for her age". Her vast skills and aptitude in witchcraft give her a brash streak, as she proudly declares her power and is openly defiant of authorities, going as far as knocking a guard unconscious and flying off to avoid getting caught.
Unlike her sister Lilith, Eda is vehemently anti-authoritarian, having little to no respect for laws and authority in general. She refuses to join any of the covens because she views them as crooked and for the limitations they place on magic. She is also not a fan of the educational system for similar reasons, bemoaning its reliance on "blind obedience" and "pointless busywork".
Eda is described as the sort of teacher that would not only throw someone into the deep end, but also set the entire body of water on fire. Eda has an odd view of how a good apprentice should act; she is very proud of Luz for getting her face on a "wanted" poster for the first time, reacting the same way when Luz convinced her to teach new spells by appealing to her vanity.
Eda also has a deeply caring side to her and she is willing to protect the people she holds most dear, such as when she protects Luz multiple times, being close to a mother figure for her. She also deeply cares about Lilith despite them both being on different sides of the law. It also seems she is afraid of losing her friends, and as such tries to ignore the idea of them leaving.
Powers and abilities[]
- Magical Expertise - Before losing her powers in the episode "Agony of a Witch", Eda was considered to be the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles. Unwilling to conform to Emperor Belos' laws against wild magic, she studied all forms of magic and refused to join a coven. A list of the types of magic spells she uses is compiled below:-
- Fire Magic - Eda can conjure flames and shoot fireballs.
- Water Magic - Eda can summon water from her palm.
- Earth Magic - Eda can summon pillars of earth from her surroundings in order to protect herself.
- Light Magic - Eda can produce orbs of light.
- Lightning Magic - Eda can cast bolts of lightning.
- Illusions - Eda can project illusions of whatever she wishes to confuse and misdirect others.
- Flight - Like most witches, Eda can fly using her staff.
- Portal Creation - Eda can produce short-range portals to warp from one spot to another.
- Telekinesis - Eda can move objects with her mind.
- Teleportation - Eda can disappear and reappear in another location. This spell is only short-range and she needs to know exactly where she wants to go.
- Forcefield Generation - Eda can generate a magical shield around herself to block incoming attacks.
- Magical Traps - Eda can produce what are essentially magical landmines that appear as bumps in the ground. These traps have elemental effects such as stone spikes and gusts of fire.
- Body Swapping - Eda is capable of switching people's minds into different bodies. She once did this to herself, Luz and King, putting her mind in King's body and Luz' mind in her own body, She cannot perform magic while in another person's body and must use her staff to undo the spell.
- Bard Magic - During her younger years, Eda was able to use bard magic by playing the lute. In "Eda's Requiem", it is revealed that Eda can cast magic through music, but the curse makes her bard magic turn anything around her into ash. She isn't immune to this effect, and she'll start decaying herself if used for too long.
- Animation - Eda can bring inanimate objects to life.
- Mindwalking - Eda can send at least two individuals into another person's mind as they sleep. She also has the ability to allow individuals to bring in items.
- Alchemy - Eda is skilled in brewing various types of potions and constructing certain magical devices.
- Cursed Form - As a result of the curse put on her by Lilith, Eda transforms into the Owl Beast during times of great stress or when she uses too much magic. In this state, she is usually not in control of her actions, her consciousness entering a dream-like state while the beast is in control of her body. Since "Knock Knock Knockin' On Hooty's Door", she has learned to communicate with the spirit of the Owl Beast and has made peace with it. She has not transformed into her beast form since and has gained a new harpy-like form in which she retains her mental faculties and full control of her body, though this comes at the cost of appeasing the Owl Beast, usually with food.
- Flight - Eda can fly in both her beast and harpy forms.
- Anatomical Liberation - As a side effect of her curse, Eda is able to detach different parts of her body, including her head, without suffering any permanent damage. The severed parts of her body remain active and under her control. This also allows her to survive decapitation, as shown in "A Lying Witch and a Warden" when Warden Wrath cuts her head off and she becomes loudly irate about it.
