Descended from the mighty beasts which once did battle with dragons for dominance in the early days of the Warhammer World, the quadrupedal Dread Saurians are the largest and most powerful carnivore to stalk the continent of Lustria. In modern times, all of these creatures appear to be kept in semi-captivity by the Lizardmen, who venerate them almost as gods. Housed in vast temple-caverns in the Lustrian mountains, Dread Saurians are kept docile by regular offerings of fresh meat, and the heavily-enchanted armours strapped to their scaly hides.
In times of war, however, the Slann will chant their rituals of loyalty and binding, awakening the ferocious nature of the Saurians before sending them to battle. On the field there is little that can match the sheer strength and physical might of these colossal beasts, save perhaps their age-old enemies, the dragons.
