Doomsday Smallville

Doomsday was the overarching antagonist of the eighth season of Smallville. This particular incarnation of the character was engineered by General Zod prior to the destruction of Krypton, combining the DNA of Zod himself, his bride Faora, and the most dangerous creatures that their planet had to offer. Its purpose was to destroy the son of Jor-El and to lay waste to the child's adoptive planet to make way for Zod's conquest.

History[]

Smallville TV series[]

Prior to the destruction of Krypton, General Zod and his wife Faora developed a life-form that combined their DNA with that of the most dangerous creatures that their planet had to offer. While the full details remain shrouded in mystery, they took the genetic material they had accumulated and planted it on the spacecraft that would carry Kal-El, son of Jor-El, to Earth.

When Kal-El's ship arrived on Earth amidst a meteor shower, the genetic material was activated and took on the form of a small boy. The child was found by agents of Lionel Luthor, who was in Smallville at the time of the meteor shower to acquire the "Traveler", an alien being prophecized to come to Earth as a saviour. The boy was taken to the Luthor Mansion and subjected to various tests, but the results of these tests proved to be negative. Deciding that the boy was not the Traveler, Lionel had his men abandon the child on a roadside. It was then that the boy underwent his first transformation into Zod's "ultimate destroyer", killing Luthor's agents in a fit of unbridled rage.

At some point after being banished by Lionel, the child was found and taken into care, given the name "Davis Bloome". For years, Davis would suffer from periodic blackouts, during which time the beast within him would take control. This led to him being transferred to numerous foster homes throughout his youth.

Davis bloome

By 2008, Davis was working in Metropolis as an EMT. One day, he met Chloe Sullivan and he quickly developed a fixation with her. Around this time, reports of horrific murders supposedly carried out by some kind of monster were circulating around the city. Davis began to suspect that he might be the monster, a suspicion that was confirmed after a fateful encounter with the Kryptonian AI Brainiac.

Davis lived in fear of the monster within himself and tried to take drugs to keep it at bay, but soon found another way to suppress the transformation. Linda Lake had learned his secret and tried to blackmail him, but he turned on her and smothered her. To his amazement, by killing people himself, he was able to keep the monster within him at bay. Because of this, Davis began secretly operating as a serial killer. However, Jimmy Olsen nearly exposed him, but Davis managed to drug him and made it seem like Olsen was crazy. Even Chloe, Jimmy's wife, did not believe him, resulting in Jimmy leaving her.

With Jimmy out of the way, Davis was able to get closer to Chloe. Due to his obsession with her, Chloe's presence seemed to calm the beast within him. However, Tess Mercer discovered Davis' secret and, having also learned the truth about Clark Kent, deduced that Davis was supposed to be the enemy of the Traveler destined to kill him. Not wanting to kill anyone, Davis tried committing suicide by impaling himself, only for the blade to shatter. Chloe later took Davis to one of Lex Luthor's old facilities, locking him inside a cell and pouring liquid kryptonite into it. The kryptonite appeared to kill Davis, but he would resurrect soon after with an invulnerability to the meteor rock.

Now completely unkillable, Davis' only hope seemed to be Chloe as her presence kept Doomsday at bay. For some time, Davis was locked away in the basement of the Talon, but even this plan was flawed as Chloe wasn't near him all the time. Chloe and Davis then decided to leave Metropolis and Smallville forever, but Oliver Queen and his group of fellow heroes found them and decided that Davis had to die in order to stop Doomsday once and for all. Clark, however, came up with an alternate plan: using black kryptonite to seperate the two halves of Davis' being, allowing Davis to live while disposing of Doomsday.

Chloe took the black kryptonite and used it on Davis just as he was about to transform. The alien rock split Davis and Doomsday apart, but the monster then fought past Green Arrow, Canary and Impulse before going on a rampage in downtown Metropolis. Clark fought against the monster for a while until he was punched and sent flying through Metropolis. As Clark was injured and bleeding, Doomsday managed to super-leap over to him and was ready to give the final blow until Clark gathered his strength and charged at Doomsday, grabbing him and super-leaping all the way back to the LuthorCorp geothermal facility, where the Justice League set off explosives and Clark trapped Doomsday under the Earth's surface, where it would be extremely difficult for him to escape.

Davis had been rendered unconscious following his separation from Doomsday. After Doomsday had been defeated, Jimmy took him and Chloe to a loft apartment in downtown Metropolis which he had bought for Chloe as a wedding gift. There, Jimmy and Chloe reconciled and reaffirmed their love for one another, with Jimmy revealing that he knew about Clark's secret and Chloe stating that she only stayed with Davis in order to protect Clark. However, Davis awoke and overheard this, becoming enraged. As Chloe and Jimmy kissed, Davis grabbed a broken pipe and impaled Jimmy through the stomach. He expressed his outrage to Chloe, who tried to assure him that she wanted to save him. Davis declared that there was nothing left worth saving, revealing how psychotic he truly was. He then lunged at Chloe, but the wounded Jimmy got up off the floor and grabbed him, pushing him into a spike and impaling him. Without Doomsday, Davis was a normal mortal and died from the impalement.

Smallville comic[]

To be added.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Superior Strength - Doomsday is capable of lifting many times its own weight and has easily overpowered the strongest beings that Earth had to offer.
  • Regeneration - Doomsday can rapidly heal any wound inflicted upon it.
  • Endurance and Adaptability - Doomsday is invincible as far as ordinary Earth-based weapons and tactics are involved. It is completely bulletproof and can withstand any temperatures and any environmental hazard. Every time Doomsday has been "killed", it has come back to life stronger than before with an added resistance to whatever had previously killed it, meaning that it can never die the same way twice.

Weaknesses[]

  • Black Kryptonite - This substance was used to seperate Doomsday from Davis Bloome, making them two seperate entities.
  • Primitive Intelligence - Doomsday is a mindless beast driven by pure aggression, with no capacity for higher reasoning. Being linked to Davis kept the beast shackled to a degree, but its murderous rage was so great that it overpowered Davis' psyche in order to go on killing sprees. After being seperated from Davis, there was nothing holding Doomsday back.
