Donna Beneviento is an antagonistic character from Resident Evil Village. She is one of the Four Lords that rule over the isolated European village under the oversight of Mother Miranda. She was a descendant of Berengario, one of the feudal lords that governed the region in ancient times.
In the game, Donna rarely speaks, instead communicating via her doll, Angie.
History[]
Early life[]
Donna Beneviento was born into gentry sometime in the 20th century. She and the other members of House Beneviento were descended from Berengario, one of the feudal lords who originally ruled over the region in ancient times. Since the First World War, the region was governed by a council including the heads of the Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, Moreau and Beneviento families, all of whom answered to Mother Miranda, the prophet of the Black God.
Over the decades, House Beneviento fell apart. Donna's sister Bernadette became subject to Miranda's experiments with the Cadou and died, leading to their parents committing suicide. Another close relative of Donna's - Claudia - died in 1996 and was buried in the garden outside the family home. It is unclear if Claudia was Donna's daughter or another relation, but she was only nine years old at the time of her death.
Due to an undiagnosed mental health problem, Beneviento developed deep-seated interpersonal anxieties which kept her largely isolated, preferring to talk to people through Angie, a doll made by her father. Donna's adulthood was mostly focused on her hobby of doll-making, effectively replacing her deceased family.
At some point during her adulthood, Donna was implanted with a Cadou parasite by Miranda. Unlike Bernadette before her, Donna survived the experiment and gained extraordinary capabilities from her mutation. Not only was her ageing process halted but she could secrete a psychotropic toxin from her body that induced hallucinations in people. As the last surviving member of her bloodline, Donna was adopted by Miranda and became one of the Four Lords reigning over the village. Due to her mental illness, however, she was considered a failure in Miranda's attempts to produce a suitable vessel for the consciousness of her daughter Eva.
The Abduction of Rosemary Winters[]
On 9th February 2021, Miranda abducted Rosemary Winters, the infant daughter of Mia and Ethan Winters. Since both Mia and Ethan had been infected with the Mold prior to Rose's conception, their child possessed superhuman traits and proved to be a viable candidate for Miranda's plan to resurrect her daughter. Ethan would follow Miranda and Rose to the village, struggling against the mutant creatures that had taken over the region as he searched for his daughter, even managing to kill Alcina Dimitrescu after venturing into her castle.
After recovering one of Rose's preserved body parts, Ethan unlocked a pathway leading to House Beneviento. As he approached the house, Ethan found himself hallucinating, seeing apparitions of his wife Mia. Little did Ethan realize that he had come into contact with Donna's psychoactive secretions contained in the pollen of Mold-infected flowers growing on the pathway.
When Ethan reached the house, he found it to be empty. He made his way to the basement where he found an unattended flask containing Rose's legs, but as he tried to take it, Donna cut the power inside the house. While the power was out, Ethan was taunted by the chilling voice of Angie, Donna's doll. When the lights came back on, the flask was gone, as were all of Ethan's weapons and items. In reality, Ethan still had his belongings on him, but hallucinated them disappearing.
Ethan searched the basement for clues, coming upon a life-sized puppet and taking it apart to find components he needed to solve a series of puzzles. During his investigation, he was plagued by a series of auditory hallucinations, memories of the time he and Mia spent with Rose. More terrifying still, he found himself being pursued by a giant, foetus-like monster which echoed a baby's cries throughout the halls as it crawled after him. The foetus creature, however, was also a hallucination.

Ethan managed to escape from the basement, but was then confronted by Donna and Angie. Donna disappeared as Angie attacked Ethan before suddenly floating away, daring him to find her. Ethan searched throughout the house, but there were numerous dolls within the halls and rooms and all began shaking violently as though ready to spring to life and attack. Fortunately, Ethan was able to track Angie down and used a pair of scissors he had taken from the basement to stab the doll in its head. Angie's head cracked open to reveal a Cadou parasite within, which Ethan violently stabbed. He then suddenly snapped out of his hallucinatory state to see Donna lying on the floor in front of him, calcifying and crumbling into fragments. Ethan then took back his gear and the leg flask before leaving the house.
Abilities and Traits[]
- Stunted Ageing - Since being infected with the Cadou, Donna's ageing process has halted, permanently leaving her with the body of a woman in her mid to late-20's.
- Toxin Secretion - Donna is capable of producing a hallucinogenic chemical within her body and secreting it through her skin. She used this substance to produce flowers that gave off toxic pollen that caused terrible hallucinations in those who inhaled it.
- Cadou Manipulation - Donna was able to conduct surgery on her own Cadou, implanting pieces of it into some of her dolls. This allowed her to mentally control the dolls, making them appear to float around of their own volition. The dolls were also made with bladed limbs and she would use them to attack Ethan.
Weaknesses[]
- Mental Illness - Donna was extremely introverted and would rarely interact with anyone directly, instead communicating via her doll Angie.
- Angie - Donna's favourite doll was implanted with a portion of her own Cadou. It is unclear how it was able to survive outside of a living host, but regardless, Ethan was able to kill it after stabbing it with a pair of scissors. When the Angie Cadou died, so did Donna.
Trivia[]
- Donna's character took inspiration from stories based on ghosts and the way they would haunt certain locations and possess inanimate objects.
- Donna is the only one of the Four Lords that does not have a mutated form and does not fight Ethan directly.
