Donatello - or Donnie for short - is a member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, recognised by his purple bandanna and his signature weapon, the bo staff. He was named after the early Renaissance sculptor Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi.
Overview[]
Donatello is considered the brains behind the Ninja Turtles. He is well versed in the sciences and a brilliant inventor, having designed and built almost all of the gadgets that the Turtles have used on their many adventures.
While his technological prowess is unquestionable, Donatello's approach to the ninja arts is somewhat lacking. He considers ninjutsu to be archaic and prefers to find solutions to problems through science, something that his brothers regularly tease him for.
Abilities and skills[]
Donnie's signature weapon is the bo staff, a rod of durable oak used primarily to block attacks and disarm opponents. In some cases, Donnie has added a hidden blade to this staff to give him a more offensive edge. However, Donnie's most outstanding talents lie with his scientific wizardry; he can invent and build virtually anything, even from the most basic components or innocuous junk. Such remarkable inventions include the Turtles' customized battle van, the team's communicators, and more complex devices such as the Metalhead robot.
