Ditto is a Normal-type Pokémon that has earned the classification of the Transform Pokémon. This is due to its unique ability to alter its shape and mass in order to mimic any species of Pokémon in the world.

In its natural state, Ditto appears as an amorphous blob of either pink or light-purple colouration, with two pin-prick sized eyes and a simple mouth that is constantly pulled into a smile. It appears to have two pseudopods that vaguely pass as arms, but no other features.
Ditto's polymorphic cell structure allows it to alter its form at will, taking on the size and shape of any other Pokémon. As well as mimicking the appearance of other Pokémon, it also takes on their abilities, strengths and weaknesses. It may also morph into inanimate objects and there have been several instances of Ditto being able to morph into humans, as well.
Each Ditto has its own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to transformation. Some Ditto require total concentration to maintain a chosen form and may revert to their true state if distracted. Some Ditto cannot perfectly replicate any particular form, their featureless faces standing out regardless of what form they take. With their powers of transformation, Ditto are capable of living in any kind of environment, though they seem to prefer living close to human civilization.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Ditto is its ability to breed with almost any species of Pokémon. Due to its polymorphic nature, Ditto is capable of producing eggs from whatever Pokémon it is paired with regardless of gender.
