Death Jackals (Latin: Spinae mortem) are creatures which appear in the Monsterverse comic book Skull Island: The Birth of Kong.

Somewhat canine in appearance, Death Jackals are pack hunters which can reach anywhere between six and twelve feet in length and sport a row of razor-sharp hairs along their backs. Although fibrous in nature, these protrusions are actually spinal growths, and their purpose is as yet unknown.
Death Jackals exist in a constant state of frenzied hunger, as their extremely high metabolism dictates that they must be constantly on the search for sustenance. As a result, these creatures will show no hesitation in feeding on the weaker members of their own species, and in extreme circumstances will even resort to eating parts of themselves. Whilst they are undoubtedly deadly predators, this weakness means that prey which can evade a Death Jackal for any length of time will find themselves in the clear, as the beast resorts to self-cannibalism.
Death Jackals are a species unique to Skull Island.
