Dark Bats are small flying Dark Gaia spawn that appear in Sonic Unleashed. They have blue, egg-shaped bodies with black purple eyes and small horns on top. Their lower body is mostly a large lower jaw with jagged fangs and a horn-like growth with circular, magenta markings on each jaw joint. They also have two feelers on the chin and a thin tail on their back.
Dark Bats are the weakest of all of Dark Gaia's minions. In the game, they do not attack Sonic and merely serve as a means for the player to progress through a given stage. Lines of Dark Bats can be found hovering over vast pitfalls and Sonic must use his Werehog arms to grab the creatures and swing his way over to the other side of the pit.
