Danny Darrow is a minor yet important character in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, being the main antagonist of the 17th episode of the first season "Escape from Mystery Manor". Once a normal human kid as a member of the Darrow Family, Danny became obssessed with the Planispheric Disk to the point his humanity has been almost lost. After the Darrow Mansion was collapsed to the underground, Danny somehow survived living for many years and because of the corruption from his obssession towards the Planispheric Disk, he transformed himself into a decrepit, hideous troll/goblin-like creature, apparently having an inhumanly longer lifespan after all of the members of his family passed away without he even noticed.
Since then, he put traps in all his mansion in order to protect his "treasure" keeping it away from Mystery Incorporated. After Scooby and the Gang entered his mansion and confronted him and his traps, Danny realized it was a mistake so he redeemed himself by letting the gang escape from the mansion while it was about to be definitely destroyed. Since then, he was never seen again during the rest of the series until post-Nibiru, an alternate timeline created after the destruction of the Evil Entity, where he looked more healthier conserving his human appearance.
Trivia[]
- He is technically the first real monster the gang encounters in the show, being at the same time the only villain in the whole series who doesn't dress up as a monster to carry out a hoax like the rest of the villains do but instead being a man who became a monster after being corrupted by an apparent magical object
- He is strongly inspired by Gollum from Lord of the Rings and Jigsaw from Saw (by his strong use of deadly traps)
