Daki is a prominent antagonist in the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is an Upper Rank Six Demon of the Twelve Kizuki, sharing the position with her brother Gyutaro, with whom she has a deep and tragic bond. Known for her beauty, cruelty, and cunning, Daki operated undercover as a courtesan in the Yoshiwara red-light district while using her powers to prey on humans in secret.
Beneath her arrogance and elegance lies a wounded soul shaped by trauma, poverty, and a desperate attachment to her older brother. Her character explores themes of vanity, insecurity, and the toxic influence of Muzan’s demonic power.
Appearance[]
As a Demon:
Daki appears as a stunningly beautiful young woman with pale skin, long white hair with lime-green and pink tips, and large, bright eyes with floral patterns in her irises. She wears a modified courtesan’s outfit, including a black-and-crimson kimono and an elaborate obi (sash) that functions as both clothing and a deadly weapon. Her appearance is graceful and refined, befitting her role as the district’s most desired oiran.
As a Human (Ume):
In her human life, Daki was known as Ume, a young girl with silver hair and captivating features. Despite growing up in poverty, her beauty caught attention early on. Even as a child, she exuded a cold and scornful demeanor, hardened by the harsh environment of the pleasure district.
Personality[]
Daki is cruel, arrogant, and sadistic, often toying with her victims before killing them. She has a deep belief in her own superiority, particularly due to her beauty and status as an Upper Rank demon. She despises ugliness and weakness and is quick to insult others she sees as beneath her.
However, this cold exterior masks deep-seated insecurity and emotional dependence on her brother, Gyutaro. Though she frequently acts spoiled and entitled, she genuinely loves Gyutaro and is terrified of being alone. Their bond is twisted yet touching—Daki’s more fragile psyche contrasts sharply with Gyutaro’s violent protectiveness.
Her personality also shifts depending on whether she is fighting alone or fused with Gyutaro. When Gyutaro emerges, her behavior becomes more childish and dependent, exposing her vulnerability and reliance on him.
Story[]
Backstory[]
Daki was born as Ume, the daughter of a sickly prostitute in Yoshiwara. From a young age, she lived in squalor but stood out due to her beauty. Her brother Gyutaro, deformed and shunned, protected her fiercely.
When she was 13, Ume stabbed a high-ranking samurai in the eye with a hairpin after he insulted her. In retaliation, she was burned alive, and Gyutaro found her near death. As he carried her dying body through the streets, both were discovered by Doma, the Upper Rank Two demon, who turned them into demons.
They joined the Twelve Kizuki, becoming Upper Rank Six and sharing a body through a symbiotic bond—Gyutaro housed within Daki, able to emerge during combat.
Entertainment District Arc[]
Daki infiltrates the Yoshiwara District under the alias Warabihime, working as a top courtesan while secretly abducting and consuming humans. She kills multiple women who offend her and stores the remains of her victims within her obi.
When Tanjiro and his allies investigate, Daki becomes their primary target. She clashes with Tanjiro in a visually intense battle, showcasing her power and pride. However, when Tanjiro gains the upper hand, Gyutaro emerges from her body, revealing that the true threat of Upper Rank Six is the combination of two demons in one.
Despite her pride, Daki is clearly overshadowed by Gyutaro in power and combat skill. Throughout their battle with the Demon Slayers—Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Tengen Uzui—Daki becomes more frantic, unstable, and emotionally volatile. In the climactic fight, both siblings are beheaded simultaneously, finally breaking the Upper Rank Six curse.
In their final moments, Daki reverts to Ume and lashes out at Gyutaro. But when he begins to drift into the afterlife alone, she runs to him in tears, refusing to be separated. The two reconcile, remembering their promise to never part. Moved by their story, Tanjiro watches them disappear into the afterlife, hand in hand.
Powers and Abilities[]
1. Blood Demon Art – Obi Sash Manipulation[]
Daki’s main technique involves creating obi sashes made of her own flesh and blood. These are razor-sharp, incredibly durable, and can extend and move independently, allowing her to attack from a distance or entrap her enemies.
- She can store humans inside her sashes, compressing them to preserve their bodies for later consumption.
- Her sashes can also be detached and move freely, which allows her to monitor and fight in multiple locations at once.
- The sashes can regenerate if cut and are highly flexible, acting as blades, traps, and shields simultaneously.
2. Regeneration[]
As a demon, Daki possesses high-speed regenerative abilities, healing wounds almost instantly unless attacked with Nichirin Blades or burned with Nezuko’s flames.

Daki and Gyutaro function as a unit—they must be beheaded at the same time to be killed. This makes them incredibly difficult to defeat. Daki alone is formidable, but with Gyutaro hidden inside her body, she becomes much more dangerous.
- When Gyutaro emerges, Daki’s own power amplifies, though she also becomes emotionally erratic.
4. Flesh Detachment and Obi Clone Creation[]
Daki can split parts of her body, especially her obi, to create semi-autonomous clones that can fight independently. She used this to great effect in the Entertainment District to guard her lair while she remained disguised.
5. Enhanced Physical Abilities[]
Daki has immense speed, agility, and strength, allowing her to battle multiple opponents simultaneously. Her fighting style is elegant and serpentine, using her obis like flowing ribbons of death.
