Dagoth was a demon from Marvel comics that acted as a villain from Doctor Strange, he was also an agent of an even more powerful demon known as Shuma-Gorath.
History[]
Dagoth once ruled as the high-priest in the city of Kalumesh, where citizens followed his every dark desire, including sacrifices in his name.
However the cursed city would be flooded and collapsed, with Dagoth himself becoming buried deep under the sea, beneath the ruins of his own city.
At some point in history Dagoth escaped his imprisonment and took to haunting the deep waters off the coast of Cornwall, England.
In the modern era (as of 1973) Dagoth took to the surface in order to plant a magical Starstone in the manor of Henry Gordon, the demon also lured Gordon and his caretaker Blondine into diving to the location of Kalumesh.
Yet by chance Doctor Strange was flying overhead (having been heading to Stonehenge to deal with the threat of Shuma-Gorath), sensing the danger beneath the waves the sorcerer dived down to confront Dagoth and save Gordon and Blondine.
That night, however, Dagoth unleashed his true assault and possessed Blondine, having him activate the Starstone, which he used to send the nearby villagers into a trance and had them walk towards the sea, intent on drowning them all.
However Doctor Strange interfered once again, saving the villagers and when Dagoth once again attacked Doctor Strange opted to use his magic to banish the demon to an unknown dimension, where he apparently remained forever.
