The Cyber-Mancubus is a demonic enemy that appears in the DOOM video game series. Introduced in DOOM (2016), this creature is an alternate version of the standard Mancubus, cybernetically modified by the Union Aerospace Corporation to enhance its already considerable power.
DOOM (2016)[]
Following the Argent Event on Mars, a group of UAC scientists led by Dr. Olivia Pierce began conducting research on several demonic specimens. Of particular interest to the group was the Mancubus and its innate ability to weaponize its own digestive byproducts; this led to the capture of a number of Mancubi which were then subjected to cybernetic augmentation, their bodies fitted with mechanical armour to increase their durability and their arm cannons upgraded to increase their range and efficiency. Due to their constant consumption of organic matter, the Cyber-Mancubi inevitably outgrow their armoured harnesses over time and need to have them modified and refitted every few weeks.
The Cyber-Mancubus can be easily told apart from a standard Mancubus by the clearly human-crafted technology adorning its body. Its eye is concealed by a helmet bolted to its head and its chest and back are covered by a teal-coloured metallic harness to grant it greater resilience from weapons fire. The cannons on its arms launch globs of highly toxic bio-plasma that create a deadly splash zone upon impact, smothering the area. While the UAC augmentations have rendered the bio-plasma non-flammable, it is still highly corrosive and will rapidly break down most materials.
The Cyber-Mancubus remains a slow, wide target, though its armour makes it a tougher nut to crack. Explosive weapons are the ideal choice for slaying this monster, or else using three tanks of fuel for the Chainsaw to kill it instantly.
DOOM Eternal[]
The Cyber-Mancubus has undergone a significant visual overhaul for DOOM Eternal. Whereas the 2016 version still had a number of exposed areas on its body, this version has even more armour plating, with only its lower jaw and its feet remaining exposed.
With so much additional armour covering its body, the Cyber-Mancubus is the toughest non-boss demon to appear in the game. It will fire globs of bio-plasma from a distance, use flamethrowers at mid-range, and generate pools of acid when the Doom Slayer dares to get close. Unlike the regular Mancubus, the Cyber-Mancubus' arm cannons cannot be destroyed by the Slayer's weapons and its attacks cannot be hampered in any way.
The Cyber-Mancubus' armour can be torn away by constant weapons fire, or can be shattered instantly by the Slayer's Blood Punch. If killed by the Chainsaw, the creature will violently explode and saturate the area around it with acid, so the Slayer must quickly get out of the splash zone before the explosion.
