Anti Villains is the opposite of an Anti Hero: While the anti hero generally plays on the side of the heroes but has attributes contrary to those of traditional heroes, an anti-villain plays on the side of the villains, is generally evil or dangerous, but has goals. . , traits and/or attitudes that are noble. In some cases they have heroic goals, but they try to achieve them through immoral, unfair and even evil methods; while in others they seek an evil objective that they intend to reach through benign methods.

They are kinder than normal villains, but they are far from heroes. In contrast to the antihero, which is a tendency to obscure the hero, the anti-villain tends to humanize and lighten the villains. However, anti-villains usually continue to pose a threat to the story. Sometimes these are simply villains with a gentle attitude, a code of honor, or a sense of justice. Sometimes they can even join forces with their rivals (usually the protagonists) if a threat greater than them appears or if they share the same interests. When they join the protagonist, they are often distrustful.

These villains are generally considered "gray" characters due to their moral ambiguity. It is possible for a villain to be an antihero and an anti-villain at the same time, although the two are opposites, depending on the villain's goals and methods.
