Cassiopeia was once a human, living the life of a well-known, influential noblewoman who used her charisma and seductive magnetism to sway others to her side. She grew up as part of the Du Couteau family, a powerful and wealthy noble house that ruled under Emperor Darkwill, with Cassiopeia herself being youngest and most beautiful member of the family. But after her mother sent her to discover and retrieve the godly power of the mythical Ascended for herself, Cassiopeia was bitten by an ancient tomb guardian while searching the Tomb of Emperors. The bite transformed her into a half-snake creature. While initially horrified upon seeing what she had become, Cassiopeia came to the realization that her new form and abilities would make her the most powerful member of the Black Rose, the secret organization her mother worked as a double agent for.
