Bloodthirsters are greater daemons of Khorne. A manifestation of the Blood God's rage and savagery, each bloodthirster is the embodiment of Khorne's martial prowess, a master combatant unmatched by any in the Warhammer World, the Mortal Realms or the galaxy at large.
Bloodthirsters are collossal red-skinned daemons, taking the form of traditional demons from ancient Terran beliefs. Clad in bronze armour, bloodthirsters arm armed differently, based on which of the Eight Hosts of Khorne they belong to, of which only four are known. Those of the Eighth Host, known as Bloodthirsters of Unfettered Fury, arm themselves with an axe and a whip. The Bloodthirsters of Insensate Rage, of the Sixth Host, meanwhile, are armed with a great axe. The Third Host's bloodthirsters, known as the Wrath of Khorne, arm themselves with an axe like their brethren in the Eighth Host, but replace their whip with a weapon known as a Bloodflail.
The final known host, the First Host, is composed entirely of Exalted Bloodthirsters. Numbering only eight at a time, these bloodthirsters are the greatest of their number, each a warrior of legend spoken of by many throughout the universe. Such names amongst the First Host include An'ggrath the Unbound, said to be the greatest of Khorne's greater daemons, Ka'Bandha, the bane of the Blood Angels, who fought the Primarch Sanguinius during the Horus Heresy, in an attempt to corrupt the legion, and Skarbrand, who's position was lost when, under the influence of the Chaos god Tzeentch, he attempted to strike down Khorne.
