The Blob is a Bio-Organic Weapon that appears in the Resident Evil 5 DLC mini-game Lost in Nightmares. The exact origins of this creature are unknown, only that several of them were created by Oswell E. Spencer and allowed to roam the sewers beneath his European estate. BSAA members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine encountered these monsters in 2006 when they came to the estate looking for Spencer.

Biology[]

Not much is known about the Blob except that it is a humanoid creature that possesses great physical strength. It has the basic humanoid body structure of two arms and two legs attached to a torso, though its back and shoulders are disproportionate and swollen with a large yellow eye emerging from its back. The creature's head, what little of it can be seen, appears to be nothing more than a circular mouth like that of a leech or lamprey. The head is largely obscured by a hood and straps of fabric are wound around the creature's torso with hooked chains dangling from the back. The Blob also wears a dirty loincloth and iron anklets. Everywhere it goes, it drags a giant iron anchor with it and possesses the strength to lift it overhead and bring it down upon victims. Blobs also have acidic blood which will spray from wounds when they are injured.

How the Blob creatures were created is unknown, though it is speculated that they were human prisoners of Spencer's that were administered an unknown mutagen by Patrick, Spencer's butler, on Spencer's order. Given the state of physical decay as well as the expansion of muscle tissue and the growth of an eye on its back, the Blob's mutation could be attributed to some combination of both the T-Virus and G-Virus, but this is mere speculation as no documents relating to the Blob's creation were ever recovered from the Spencer Estate.

Behaviour[]

Due to their disproportionate body structure and the heavy anchors they drag around with them, Blobs are unable to run. They seem to have heightened senses of hearing and smell, allowing them to track prey easily and navigate around obstacles. With their superior strength, Blobs can lift an adult human off the ground singlehandedly or even smash through brick walls. Their primary method of attack is to lift their anchors up over their heads and crush their victims with it.

Weaknesses[]

Blobs are extremely tough and are highly resistant to ordinary firearms. Even when they are injured, their blood is acidic and spurts from wounds, potentially causing injury to the attacker if they are too close. However, the Blob does possess an obvious weak spot: the large mutant eye on its back. Concentrated fire on this eye will cause it to burst, resulting in the Blob's death.
