Black Hat is the main protagonist of Villainous. He is a vulgar and elegant narcissistic demon whose main objective is to take down heroes to make the world a more vile place. He is the head of the Black Hat Organization made up of Dr. Flug, 5.0.5, Demencia and the HatBots.
Appearance[]
He wears a high top hat, with a red ribbon. He wears a monocle on his left eye. His clothing is a long, slightly light black jacket, typical of winter outfits. His shirt is red and with a black tie. His pants are faded blue. He has some particular shoes from the 60s and gloves in a lightened black color. His skin is dark and his teeth are pointed.
In his 2012 version there are slight changes, the monocle remains, as does his jacket and his hat, but it has a giant question mark and the band of his hat has a lighter red color ; under the vest he wears a red shirt with a tie and a waistcoat.
Personality[]
Black Hat is a cruel, narcissistic and sadistic being, as well as very proud. He takes great pleasure in the suffering of others (including his own subordinates) and always proclaims to be the most evil villain of them all.
Being very proud of villainy, he takes great dissatisfaction in the faults and mistakes of other villains, particularly when it comes to Flug Slys or his other employees, as well as those who have bought his products.
He doesn't have any good or positive qualities in him, although he can show respect and appreciation for those who do a good job of being villains.
History[]
Although Black Hat is known to be very old, since at various times it is possible to see paintings with him in various scenes from the past, his exact age and origin are unknown.
As he himself mentions on multiple occasions, throughout his existence he has annihilated hundreds of worlds and ruled over many others, having hundreds of galaxies in his domain, until at some point, he arrived on Earth and obtained his very characteristic hat on his first visit. Later, he founded the Black Hat organization in Hatsville to support and advise other villains, providing weapons and ideas to take down heroes, with the purpose of "making the world a more vile place."
Once at the Black Hat Organization, he assembled his team, consisting of Dr. Flug, Demencia and 5.0.5, who work for him.
Relationships[]
Dr. Flug []
Flug has been with the Black Hat Organization for a long time and has a professional relationship with his boss. Despite the pressure and mistreatment, something natural since Black Hat is the origin of all evil, Flug is truly proud of his work and working for the company, sharing the same ideals as his boss whom he admires and fears in equal measure.
Although they seem to have a constant bad relationship, there are moments of peace and cordiality as shown in the video "The Lost Cases of the Future". Video in which Black Hat constantly referred to Flug with respect; calling him "you" and "doctor", debating and sharing opinions between them.
Flug is the right hand of Black Hat and every day he is the one who is left in charge of many things (including analyzing villains) when he cannot or does not want to do them. It is assumed that Flug and Black Hat are very close, since Black Hat is the the only person to have seen his face without the bag.
5.0.5 []
Black Hat considers 5.0.5 a gigantic failure. He had planned to create as a fearsome monster for his villainous purposes, but due to an error in Dr. Flug's experiment, it turned out to be a kind and tender creature. Because of this, Black Hat is seen torturing, screaming, and mistreating 5.0.5 on multiple occasions.
Despite all this, 5.0.5 wants to be appreciated by Black Hat and sees him as his father, as can be when in the statues of the most important thing in his life there are sculptures where you can see 5.0.5 and Black Hat treating each other amicably.
Even so, 5.0.5 may no longer see Black Hat as his father and rather sees Flug that way, although he continues to share the same fear for his boss as all his companions.
Dementia []
Dementia admires Black Hat with passion, feeling a great attraction towards him; Black Hat is aware of this and of her constant flirting, which he considers very annoying. Even though Black Hat has said that he was fed up with her, he still tolerates her as she is a competent villain who brings a lot of profit to the organization.
Dementia is no safer from Black Hat's abuse as Flug and 5.0.5, and shows to have the same level of fear and terror for her boss as they do, showing that despite her infatuation, she still recognizes Black Hat as an extremely dangerous being.
