Beastman (獣人, juujin) is a species of anthropomorphic animals residing in the world of Brand New Animal.
Description[]
Beastman's scientific name is Homo sapiens bestia. Beastman is the closest living species to human. They share a similar evolutionary lineage and their last common ancestor existed after the divergence of Australopithecus (2 million years ago). However, his genetic data doesn't primarily use DNA, instead using beast deoxyribonucleic acid.
While some still live in hiding in predominantly human-populated areas, most of the beastmen live in an exclusion zone, especially known as Anima City. The reason for this is due to prejudice between both species, which is exacerbated by the controversies surrounding the founding of the city.
Beastmen, while their true form is that of an anthropomorphized variant of any animal species, have the ability to change into a human form, with no obvious beastman traits present. Therefore, it is easy for one to dwell among humans without raising the alarm, that they revert to their beastman form.
However, there is a true blood beastman who can be a hybrid of two animals at once.

Curiosities[]
- Beastmen, while in their human form, can unintentionally turn into their beastman form while under extreme emotion, such as fear, anger, sadness, and excitement. This may be a contributing factor as to why the beastmen were unable to hide their existence.
- It is not known exactly how the biology of the Beastmen works, Nakashima states that they are humans capable of turning into animals, but in Episode 4, it is explained that they are real anthropomorphic animals due to the beast factor, while their human form is a disguise.
