Banshees are terrifying cybernetic killers created by the Reapers that act as command units for other Reaper ground troops during Mass Effect 3. They are created from Asari subjects afflicted with the Ardat-Yakshi condition that prevents the afflictee from melding minds with her mate, instead ravaging their minds and killing them. Ardat-Yakshi augmented by Reaper technology are transformed into wailing monsters that possess great intelligence and devastating biotic powers. They can levitate, generate biotic shields, short-range teleport and fire bursts of dark energy to destroy their foes. They can also use their hands' long, sharp talons to impale victims and kill them instantly.
