Azog the Defiler is a character from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Trilogy, despite never appearing in any of Tolkien's works, making him comparable to Tauriel and Alfrid Lickspittle. He was an enormous Orc who operated in Dol Guldur, where he worked for the Dark Lord Sauron. He pursues and attacks Thorin and Company on their way to the Lonely Mountain out of vengeance. Eventually, he encountered Oakenshield near the dwelling of the skin changer Beorn, where the dwarf narrowly evaded his grasp. He was then tasked by Sauron with leading the armies of the Dark Lord. During the Battle of Five Armies at the end of the trilogy, he encountered Oakenshield once more. He extracted revenge upon the dwarf, at the cost of his own life as they impaled each other with bladed weapons.
